Tech Support: After Windows update getting bluescreen 1033 error on Toshiba

After Windows update getting bluescreen 1033 error on Toshiba

I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L740 laptop and am running Windows 7 Pro.  After the Windows update yesterday, I got a blue screen upon startup with the following message:

Locale ID: 1033
BCCode: a
BCP1: 0000000000000000

BCP4: FFFFF80002EACF74
OS Version: 6_1_7601
Service Pack: 1_0

Startup Repair restored my computer by removing the updates.
Why am I receiving this error from the Windows update?  What do I need to do to fix the problem so I can update?
Thanks.
