Aero stopped working and now does not appear

A few days ago I installed dreamscape to compliment the aero theme. I ran fine for a day or so, but today when I came back and hit a key to turn my display back on I saw a bubble message saying dreamscape has stopped working. Well along with dreamscape
aero was no longer working, nor did it appear under color and appearance.

I've read around in the forum a bit and tried the usual fixes to restore it. I have already tried going into services, then stopping and restarting both destop windows manager and themes and it doesn't seem to fix the issue. Aero is still gone and the closest
option I have to select is vista basic. My video card and hardware are definately not the issue and my specs are more than enough to handle the theme.

Thanks to all taking the time to read and help with this. Any advice or additional info is greatly appreciated. I don't feel like doing a complete reinstall just for the sole purpose of getting the aero theme back, but I also can't stand the basic themes
anymore!

try running System Restore to restore your configuration to a time when Aero worked.
Here's how:
Go to Start
In the Search field, type in: restore
Click System Restore at the top of the list
Select the option that will allow you to run System Restore to a previous date.

Try restoring your system files back to original, here's how:
Go to Start
In the Search field, type in cmd.exe
Right click the Run Command and select "Run as Administrator"
At the command prompt, type in: sfc /scannow
Press Enter
Check if there are any updates for your Display adapters.
Or check with settings of your Graphic cards.
