Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7?

Check your settings for window appearance, themes, colors.

XP: Right-click the desktop> Display Properties> Appearance.
Try a different Theme.

Vista / Windows 7: Right-click the desktop> Personalization> Windows color and appearance> Try a different theme.

If running a third-party program, such as Stardock Window Blinds, check settings there or disable/uninstall that program.

You need to insure that you have contrasting colors for fonts, 3d objects, menu background, etc.
