Dell Vostro laptop with Windows 7 won't install hotfixes for IE9
I have Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit running on a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop. I tried to install IE9 Beta and it fails. I then tried to install all the seperate hotfixes required for this Beta, KB2028560 fails all the time. This means this hotfix cannot be
installed, which means IE9 cannot be installed, which means IE9 is not even compatible with Windows 7! I currently run IE8 without issue. Brian

Hey Brian,
Let’s reset your Windows Update components.
This can be done by using the Fix It located here:
How do I reset Windows Update components?
First run the Fix It in default mode (don’t check the ‘Aggressive mode’ option).
Once that has finished, restart your computer.
Then test to see if you are able to install using the installer I linked to in my last reply (let’s use this installer
for all future attempts at installation/troubleshooting).
If unsuccessful, run the Fix It linked above again, but this time check the ‘Aggressive mode’ option, and restart your computer once finished.
If that doesn’t solve the problem, try temporarily disabled/exiting your antivirus software to see if it is causing a conflict with the installation.
To do this, right click your antivirus’ icon in your notification area and click Close/Exit/Disable.
Then attempt the installation again.
If it is still not working, please provide the latest entries in the IE9_Main.log file in your next reply.
Look forward to hearing back from you.

Open Action Center by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, and then, under System and Security, clicking Review your computer's status.
Update and run your antivirus software. Windows doesn't come with antivirus software, but Action Center can often monitor the antivirus software that you or your computer manufacturer have installed.
